June / July Competition 2009
This month you have the opportunity to win your very own copy of 'Keep Calm and Carry On - a collection of cheering quotes and wry truths from wits such as Churchill, Disraeli and George Bernard Shaw.
The original WWII government poster was designed to motivate the British public in a time of extreme crisis (i.e. if we were occupied). In the event, the crisis never happened and so the poster laid in a dusty box of books until it’s rediscovery in 2001.
The current upsurge in the popularity of the slogan suggests that its dignified stiff-upper lip resonates with us in the challenging times we are experiencing just as much as it would have done with the original wartime audience.
We have ten prizes to give away so don't miss your chance of winning.
Entrants should read this bit very carefully:
Because we have recently been a target for fraudulent entries this month’s question is in two parts:
Part 1:
When did Benjamin Disraeli become Prime Minister of Britain?
Have a look at our Timeline to find the answer.
(hint: enter the words Benjamin Disraeli in the search box)
Then answer the following question
Part 2
How often do you click on the Google Ads at the bottom of our pages?
Never? Sometimes? Often?
Send an email with your answers (remember we are looking for two answers here) to: competition@history.uk.com by August 1 2009 to be entered into the prize draw.
