Much Wenlock Festival

The Much Wenlock Festival takes place every two years in this beautiful and historic Shropshire market town.

The 2008 Festival will open on Saturday 31 May and will run until Sunday 22 June.

The historic sites in this lovely market town are used as venues for festival events.

Events Programme

The Festival Play, William Shakespeare's Richard III, will be performed by The Shropshire Drama Company during the second week of the Festival with the Opening Night on Monday 9 June.

The Play will be performed on the ancient Church Green, with the Parish Church providing a marvellous backdrop to complete the setting.

For more information see the Wenlock Festival Web pages

Entrants should read this bit very carefully:

Because we have recently been a target for fraudulent entries this month’s question is in two parts:

The first part is to tell us which Shakespeare play you like best and why (there is no right or wrong answer to this but it may help us produce a great feature for you in the future!

Then answer the following question

William Shakespeare was married to Anne Hathaway - where is Anne Hathaway's cottage?
  1. Ottery?
  2. Shottery?
  3. Pottery?

Have a look at the History.uk.com listings search to find the answer.

HINT: Try entering 'Shakespeare' in the exact word search

Send an email with the correct answers (remember we are looking for two answers here) to: competition@history.uk.com by June 1st to be entered into the prize draw.
