WE have come to expect great things from DK and this wonderfully illustrated book does not disappoint. It is a glorious celebration of world history and deserves a place on any historian's coffee table.
My favorite section was the range of specially commissioned satellite maps that offer an amazing opportunity to 'step back' and study the world from a distance.
Don't be misled, this is not just a picture book. The reference section at the back of the book provides a chronology of every country in the world, each major historical event is succinctly explained and key historical figures are elegantly profiled.
Be warned, this book is compulsive and has to be the ultimate seasonal gift for any history enthusiast.
