Battle of Beachy Head
On July 10, the French attacked England. The English fleet was defeated off Beachy Head and the French went on to attack Teignmouth. The battle was part of a series of disputes arising from the Grand Alliance, which William III joined the previous December.
Battle of the Boyne
The Battle of the Boyne was fought at the River Boyne, Ireland, on July 12. The Protestant forces of William III defeated the Catholic army of deposed king, James II.
James II's troops were aided by Jacobite supporters from Ireland and France. The defeat ended James II's campaign in Ireland where he had taken the role of King of Dublin. He fled to France.
